It's a public holiday in Australia today, ANZAC Day. It's the most important public holiday in this country. The 25th of April marks the anniversary of the first major military action fought by soldiers from Australia together with New Zealand during World War I. ANZAC = Australian and New Zealand Army Corps. On this day we remember all the soldiers who served and died, not only in WWI, but in all wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations over the years. It's a day of remembrance.
What's with the cookies, I hear you say...☺
Today I'm going to make some ANZAC Day biscuits if I get the chance.
If you click on the borrowed photo you can get the recipe I'm going to try!
Have a great Friday!
...and enjoy your weekend.
ANZAC hugs from this side of the world.
Happy Anzac day to you to Pernilla. Those biscuits look yummy. I stuck to pikelets today as only my son likes the Anzac biscuits. Still very australian
ReplyDeleteThe same to you, Amanda! No biscuits made today I'm afraid. Maybe another day - or there is always next year :D
