Wow, Friday already!

Wow, Friday already... Can't believe how fast this first week of the school holidays has gone. Hope you all have had a great week wherever you are in the world!

My aim for the weekend and the week ahead is to tidy up the house,

especially those spaces that don't get much attention normally 

- like the pantry for example.

I had planned to do a total pantry overhaul  

during the last Christmas holidays, 

but I couldn't find the inspiration... 

Hopefully I can find inspiration during this school holiday.

It's sometimes hard,

especially when I sit down on my wooden kitchen sofa

with a book or a interior decorating magazine.

...and I'm totally surrounded by my Swedish Dala horses and textiles...

My Swedish style is so calming

- no wonder I don't get much work done lol

Loving all these bright Spring colours

 

I know I've said it before,

but I really love these wonderful bright Spring colours!

They are so happy and make my heart sing♥

It's crazy, I know... 

We are in the middle of Autumn here in the southern hemisphere

and I still decorate as if it was Spring time☺.

Our beautiful warm days have cool mornings.

It's quite refreshing with 17°C/63°F

and then during the day we are lucky to enjoy

28-29°C/82-84°F.

I never get tired...

of my blue and white transferware.

So many different beautiful patterns;

castles and sceneries,

birds and flowers.

 Romantic lace here and there.

Some pretty vintage pearls mixed in...

Rows of cups, saucers and plates.

A mixture of antiques and new productions.

Antique Swedish canisters at the top; 

Coffee, Sugar, Cinnamon, Prunes, Cloves, Potato Flour and Rice.

The canisters belonged to my Maternal grandmother,

but originally from her husband's family.

I'm always keeping an eye out for more.

Maybe a teapot would look nice in my collection... ☺

Christmas is slowly disappearing...

Started slowly to take down the Christmas decorations in the kitchen and 'back kitchen sit down area' today.

It's fun how fast you get into removing all the signs of Christmas and there is no hesitation what so ever. Out with the red and in with the white and bright ☺

My Swedish Dala horse curtains feels refreshing after Christmas. White red and blue. The curtains transformed the whole room - a nice change after the holidays. The red Christmas fabric on the kitchen sofa was replaced too. White crocheted cushions and blue & white cushions made the sofa look cozy. I feel like sitting down and flipping through a magazine or an interior design book of some kind.

 

The back kitchen in the evening light. Still lots to do. I'm tweaking here and there... trying to get it as nice as possible. Have to continue tomorrow... Time to crash on the couch and watch some TV now when the kids are sound asleep!

Finally...

My two favourite British magazines are finally here.

The December issues are always a hit!

I've been waiting and waiting...

In late October I saw the magz on a British website,

and finally they are here on Australian soil.

More Christmas! 

Oh, happy days☺

Even in the bedroom...

I never miss an opportunity to decorate for different seasons.

Love changing the theme in the bedroom with lovely reds.

This year we added a backdrop of white and red curtains from IKEA.

Cushions with red stripes and checkered patterns add to a Christmas country feel.

Only two weeks left of the school holiday.

 Tuesday the 28th is the first day of Year 2 for our prince.

Back to routines of bus trips and school lunches ☺

Then it's only 10 weeks until the Easter holiday

Yay ... Easter decor time!

Christmas Eve Dinner Preparations

 This year we had the house full for our Christmas Eve dinner, 

or Julbord (Christmas table) as we Swedes call it.

Family and close family friends sat down for a lovely Swedish Christmas feast.

We don't have a large table for 15 people,

so I had to decorate two different areas - double the fun!!

Our pretty snowflake plates... love them straight on the rustic table.

Simple and Christmassy.

My antique Swedish wooden tray 

(a gift from my mother on my 40th birthday a month ago) 

as a centerpiece.

Cute paper napkins with Christmas motif from IKEA,
casually placed in my rustic wine glasses,
also from IKEA. At this table I used our formal stainless steel flatware.

 I just love decorating here, it's such a cozy little corner.

I set the table with casual plates from 'Vue' in cream and red,
our everyday blue flatware from IKEA,
pretty and Christmassy paper napkins in our rustic wine glasses,
also from IKEA... ☺

I do buy lots of stuff from IKEA, don't I?!

make it so intimate and romantic.

OMG, I've been dying to show you...

My mum sent out an early birthday present for my 40th!
Yep, I'll be 40 in a few days...

It was so exciting opening the parcel from Sweden.
The surprise look on my face when I saw what she had sent me - priceless☺
I couldn't believe it!!

It was an antique wooden tray used in farm kitchens a long long time ago...

It's been a dream of mine to own one.

Now, I have all these ideas of how to decorate it.
Looking forward to Christmas...

Wooden trays are very sought after in Sweden.

A simple display of faux apples in my beautiful tray.

The apples were a gift from my dad♥ many years ago.

Two perfect gifts together as one.
 Nice and simple, just the way I like it.
