Blue n Yellow in my heart

Feeling a bit extra Swedish this time of the year,
due to all the Swedish celebrations going on.

Maybe I'm missing my old home country too, perhaps...
It's been about 15 years since I experienced a Swedish Summer.

Luckily, I have all these Swedish decorations to bring out year after year!

Midsummer Corner

I finally got around to do some Midsummer decorating.
Jeez, things don't happen fast these days.
The Swedish Midsummer weekend is well and truly over.

But,

Welcome to my Midsummer Corner!
It's normally my Autumn corner with lots of Autumn colours.
Well, the dried leaves and the pine cones are still there,
but just pushed aside a bit lol

I try to change the colour scheme to match the Swedish celebrations and events.

So,

I'm celebrating the Swedish Midsummer
in the middle of
the Australian Midwinter.

Great weather, great friends and great fun for all ages!

Almost Swedish Midsummer

It's getting closer to the Swedish Midsummer weekend. Only three days until we celebrate it here in Brisbane - in the middle of our Winter. The Swedes back home will celebrate Midsummer Eve on Friday.

I have started to decorate a bit...

Love the blue and yellow!

The Swedish National Costume - so bright and beautiful!

Looking forward sharing my Midsummer celebration with you all.
Stay tuned ☺

Midsummer at IKEA Logan, Queensland, Australia

This is how a traditional Midsummer Smörgåsbord looks like. Lots of fresh food displayed beautifully on a long table; jars of pickled herring, potatoes, meatballs, salmon, egghalves with caviar or mayo and prawns, cracker bread, cheese, pies, different desserts - strawberries and cream is a must in Summer!

Last Wednesday we went to IKEA to celebrate Midsummer.

After handing in our tickets to the lovely IKEA staff in the traditional Swedish costume, we were shown to our table and then it was time to get a food trolley, queue up and finally fill our plates.

Cold food; salmon and pickled herring in the fridge section and hot food from the canteen; meatballs, boiled potatoes, creamed potatoes, potato chips (french fries), chicken nuggets, leak- and cheese pie and a pasta dish.

Bread, cheese and desserts.
Oh, how I would love to have one of those big dala horses... ☺

Mmmm... Strawberries!

A trolley full with food.

Swedish Midsummer

Salmon on cracker bread - and a plate of midsummer food,
a selection of salmon, prawns, egg with caviar, leak- and cheese pie.

Berry tarts for dessert.

Lots of people.
The whole restaurant was packed.

...and Miss Lily too.

Lily should have worn her Swedish costume too!

Love the Swedish flag, especially on a bright and sunny Summer's day.
It's beautiful as a bunting too ☺

Looking forward to next year's Midsummer celebration at IKEA.
I think I'll write them some suggestions,
give feedback to make the next event even better!
