Christmas is coming

Been out checking for Christmas decorations.
Found these pretty pink ones.

I have a Christmas blog,
It's my little 'baby'...☺
I love everything about Christmas.

My Christmas blog is written in Swedish,
but there is a Google translator button
up at the right hand corner,
just under the red Swedish Christmas heart.

Would love if you stopped by!

My 40th

I celebrated my 40th birthday with friends and family last Saturday, two days before my real birthday. My guests came from near and far to share my big day. I couldn't have asked for a nicer time. The weather was perfect and everyone had a great time. There were plenty of food and heaps of cake.

My lovely friend Bex and I.

My SIL Beck, her son Joshua and I.

My master piece
Traditional Swedish Sandwich Cake
(Smörgåstårta)

Lots of creamy layers of smoked salmon, eggs and prawns.

So yummy!

My girlfriends
Jodie, Bex and Jax

A pizza bun, anyone?
Bacon, basil and feta cheese... yummy!

Almost time for cake!

My dear friend Bel

Traditional Swedish birthday cakes,
Princess Cake
(sponge cake with raspberry jam,
custard and raw cream plus marzipan on top)
and
Meringue Cake with raw cream and berries in between.

...and yes, I made all the food from scratch.
I spent days in my kitchen preparing for my 40th.
So nice to finally relax and enjoy the company of my family and friends,
food and beautiful sunny weather (no thunderstorm!!)

Time to cut the cake ☺

Cake, anyone?

OMG, I've been dying to show you...

My mum sent out an early birthday present for my 40th!
Yep, I'll be 40 in a few days...

It was so exciting opening the parcel from Sweden.
The surprise look on my face when I saw what she had sent me - priceless☺
I couldn't believe it!!

It was an antique wooden tray used in farm kitchens a long long time ago...

It's been a dream of mine to own one.

Now, I have all these ideas of how to decorate it.
Looking forward to Christmas...
Just sayin'

Oh, my... it's going to look amazing!

A perfect gift for me♥
So happy she was able to get a hold on one.
Wooden trays are very sought after in Sweden.

A simple display of faux apples in my beautiful tray.
The apples were a gift from my dad♥ many years ago.

Two perfect gifts together as one.
Nice and simple, just the way I like it.

Hope you all have a great weekend and fab week ahead.
Hugs from an almost 40 year old!

Hail

The hail from the hailstorm the other day

These hailstones were picked up after the rain had started to pour down,
so the size is a bit reduced.

Quite scary when you think of it,
you wouldn't want to be outdoors unprotected with these falling from the sky!

More thunderstorms...

The sky changed colour to dark blue

The pink bougainvilleas look amazing against the dark sky

The blue sky got darker and darker

... until it was all black!

Thunder and lightning and heaps of heavy rain.
Luckily, our suburb didn't get any hail this time.

The other day we got golf ball sized hail - that was very bizarre!
They came down so quickly and hard.
The hailstones are not round - they have spikes - like medieval weapons!
In Sweden we only get the occasional hail,
and they are tiny in size.

So different here on the other side of the planet☺

After the storm our backyard was lovely and green.
Even the sun came out for a bit.

Everything is now back to normal,
until the next storm... ☺

Crazy clouds bringing extreme weather...

We've had rain, storms and golf ball sized hail
these past few days.
After months of no rain, it felt quite refreshing.

Happy Blue Monday to Sally

Storm season

It's not just sunshine here in Australia.

Here in South - East Queensland
we have amazing weather all year around.
Beautiful one day - perfect the next.

The sunshine, the humidity
 - lots of pressure up in the sky

The storm season is here!

Afternoon sky when we were at the shops...

Driving home

Amazing sky

Birds trying to get away from the stormy weather.

Lots of rain, thunder and lightning above our heads.

After the first storm had passed the sun quickly came out again
and we saw this wonderful rainbow.

Not long after we could hear thunder again.
The rain pouring down, lightning in a distance.
The beauty of the storm season.
