Happy New Year!

Photo from last year's NYE.
We celebrated with my mum at Portside Wharf in Brisbane.
We had the VIP spot above the crowd.

Lily missed all the fireworks - sound asleep the whole time!

This year hubby is working at the same place so the kiddies and I are at home.
Think I'm going to get the kids to bed early and then I can watch a good movie.
There are awesome fireworks from Sydney on TV at the end of the night.

A big hug to everyone♥
whether you celebrate at home, out partying or not celebrating at all...☺

Happy New Year!

Christmas corner

Everywhere I look I see Christmas decor.
It's such a nice feeling of safety and warmth.

Luckily there is no rush to take it all down,
I can enjoy it as long as I want♥

I love...

hearts, stars and straw items♥

Christmas isn't over yet!

Most people here in Australia remove all the Christmas decor a day or two after Christmas Day, or maybe leave it up until NYE.

In Sweden we keep decorations up until 20 days after Christmas. It's an old tradition where we have a big party, eat the last bit of the Christmas food - the edible Christmas decoration included (eg. gingerbread cookie decor with hard icing or other candy decorations) and dance Christmas out out the house and throw the tree out in the snow as well.

Personally, I keep my home christmasy for much longer... In fact, I'm still decorating my house. I feel the Christmas holiday went too quickly. It wasn't a long celebration for us, even though we started on Christmas Eve. I think it's because hubby worked so much it didn't feel we celebrated at all, even though we opened Christmas presents two days in a row and had two Christmas dinners, one Swedish and one Australian.

So, there will be more Christmas posts... 'cause Christmas isn't over yet!

Merry Christmas!

Christmas Eve is almost over. Christmas Eve is the main day at Christmas in Sweden... The 24th is the day our little family open our Christmas presents too, even though we live in a country that doesn't celebrate until the 25th - Christmas Day - this way we always have two Christmases - one Swedish and one Australian! How perfect is that? The only thing missing is the snow lol

The Christmas presents were opened this morning...

We had our traditional Christmas porridge breakfast.
(Rice porridge)

Jellied veal, meatballs, ham, pickled herring, egg halves and much more...

A traditional Swedish Christmas feast aka julbord
a huge smörgåsbord with yummy Swedish Christmas treats in the middle of the day.

Tomorrow we are celebrating Christmas Day with the kids' grandparents.
Day 2 of the festivities ☺

Milk and Cookies...

The Swedish Santa (Tomten) was here during the night and left heaps of Christmas presents for the kids... ☺ Oh, boy are they going to be excited when they wake up!

Tomten liked his milk and gingerbread cookies... ☺
It's too hot for Swedish Christmas porridge!

Merry Christmas to all of you!
