My 40th

I celebrated my 40th birthday with friends and family last Saturday, two days before my real birthday. My guests came from near and far to share my big day. I couldn't have asked for a nicer time. The weather was perfect and everyone had a great time. There were plenty of food and heaps of cake.

My lovely friend Bex and I.

My SIL Beck, her son Joshua and I.

My master piece
Traditional Swedish Sandwich Cake
(Smörgåstårta)

Lots of creamy layers of smoked salmon, eggs and prawns.

So yummy!

My girlfriends
Jodie, Bex and Jax

A pizza bun, anyone?
Bacon, basil and feta cheese... yummy!

Almost time for cake!

My dear friend Bel

Traditional Swedish birthday cakes,
Princess Cake
(sponge cake with raspberry jam,
custard and raw cream plus marzipan on top)
and
Meringue Cake with raw cream and berries in between.

...and yes, I made all the food from scratch.
I spent days in my kitchen preparing for my 40th.
So nice to finally relax and enjoy the company of my family and friends,
food and beautiful sunny weather (no thunderstorm!!)

Time to cut the cake ☺

Cake, anyone?

  1. Grattis i efterskott Pernilla!
Vilka härliga tårtor du gjort. Mest sugen blir jag på smörgåstårtan, det var hur länge som helst sedan jag åt det.

  2. Happy Belated Birthday! I don't consider 40 "old" at all - but I must tell you I would have NEVER guessed you were 40. You are looking fabulous! XOXO

  5. That beautiful pink cake caught my eye on the Pink Saturday board, and it led to the most beautifully welcoming party! What a wonderful day, and what a
    charming hostess you are.

The friends and family and that sunny day all combined to make a perfect occasion---and the FOOOOD! Oh, my. My Chris would have been helping you cut that sandwich cake (and licking his fingers), for he's a great fan of gravlax and all its garnishments.

The pink cake is the exact shade of my favourite colour, and I'm "enjoying" a slice with my coffee right now. Thank you for the lovely invitation.
