Rustic corner vignette

Wooden corner in the kitchen sit down area.

Vintage glass/wood lamp.
Candle with coconut fragrance and cinnamon bark,
faux greenery on a pretty little cloth in a wooden bowl.
Simple and beautiful on a old wooden box.

 Vintage wash board.

Today we are having a grey and rainy Sunday.
After hours indoors, the kids decided to go out and play.
Nice with some 'fresh' air... Quite humid inside too.
Hope you all have a great weekend!

Finally some rain!

Ah, the bliss of rain!

Finally, dear friends... The rain is here!

It's drizzling pouring down here on the east coast lol
The sky is open...
We'll soon have a small river in the backyard.

You get the idea☺

Wonderful rain!
We have waited so long...

Finally!

Have an awesome day everyone!

I never get tired...

of my blue and white transferware.

So many different beautiful patterns;
castles and sceneries,
birds and flowers.

 Romantic lace here and there.

Blue and white on wooden shelves

Some pretty vintage pearls mixed in...

Rows of cups, saucers and plates.
A mixture of antiques and new productions.

Antique Swedish canisters at the top;
Coffee, Sugar, Cinnamon, Prunes, Cloves, Potato Flour and Rice.

The canisters belonged to my Maternal grandmother,
but originally from her husband's family.

I'm always keeping an eye out for more.

Harmony Day 2014

Friday the 21st of March is the annual Harmony Day
Bullying. No way!

Jonah's school had a big event on.
The Queensland Education minister visited and everything was
broadcast through FM Radio Channel 97.3 and TV's Channel 9.

Bullying. No way!

Harmony Day 21 March is a day of cultural respect for everyone who calls Australia home - from the traditional owners of this land to those who have come from many countries around the world. By participating in Harmony Day activities, we can learn and understand how all Australians from diverse backgrounds equally belong to this nation and enrich it! Source

The 2014 National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence is on Friday 21 March 2014. This annual day provides a focus for all schools to say Bullying. No way! and to strengthen their existing everyday message that bullying and violence at school are not okay at any time. Source

21st of March is also the International Day of Down Syndrome Day

Enjoying the blue

Hello there,
all you lovely people that stop by and visit!

I dressed up my rustic dining room table for the weekend.

Normally you can see homework, crayons or a few left-over toys
that never seem to find their way back to the toy box...
- ah, the joy of parenthood!

My antique Swedish wooden tray with pine cones - perfect for Autumn
and one of my many blue table runners from Sweden.

Different shades of blue.

My late grandmother wouldn't dream about not ironing a table runner or a table cloth.
I'm not too fussy... ☺
lol
I mean,
I love patina and imperfection!

Hope you have a great weekend

Latest addition to the family

My latest brass candle holder,
bought on eBay from one of my favourite Swedish sellers,
Susann aka xscat.
Perfect for Advent and Christmas time too,
but I think I'll have it on display all year around☺

I've purchased items from Susann since 2005. Her eBay shop is called
and that's where you can find anything Swedish
- from table runners, books, cross-stitch samplers, copper items and Christmas décor.

My blue table runner is also purchased at the Swedish Fleamarket!

Great addition to my brass candle holder collection!

The tiny candle holder with a foot of dark wood  is also from xscat's eBay store.

This little beauty is also from xscat.
Used an old photo from a previous blog post.

Ocean of candle holders.

Make sure to remember xscat's Swedish Fleamarket when you shop on eBay!

Hope you all have a great week.
Thank you so much for stopping by!

Finally Autumn!

Wow,
Autumn is finally here.
We are finally going towards cooler months.
Yay☺
Yesterday was the first day of Autumn here in the Southern hemisphere,
but it doesn't mean we are going to need jumpers and scarves
any time soon.

Temperatures for the coming week: +28-29°C (82-84°F)
Sounds quite pleasant, don't you think?!

Next week also has an important date in the Swedish calendar.
On Tuesday, we celebrate Fettisdagen.
In English, it's called Shrove Tuesday
and it's the day preceding Ash Wednesday.

We celebrate the day by eating a 'semla' or two...
If you'r not familiar with the term semla,
take a look at Wikipedia page here for an explanation.

I love keeping my Swedish traditions going,
so I've already made a batch of semlor,
ready to be enjoyed on Tuesday.

I have to admit though,
We had some for dessert today and they were truly scrumptious.
Already looking forward to Tuesday!

Have a great night, dear blog friends☺
