Easter Saturday Luncheon

We spent Easter Saturday with the kids' grandparents, aunty and a whole bunch of Swedish people (one or two Aussies too, and an american as well) and shared a traditional Swedish Easter smörgåsbord. This is how it looked before we all sat down to eat. My mother in-law and sis-in-law really made an effort decorating the table. Aren't the small eggs hanging in the ceiling cute?!

 Yellow is definitely the colour of Easter.

they play a crucial part in the Swedish Easter celebration.

Pink Easter Saturday

  Easter Saturday morning fun with the kids.

We have a tradition in our little family to give the kids a few Easter presents instead of lots and lots of chocolates, nothing extravagant... some toy match box cars for Jonah and a number plate from the Cars movie plus new games downloaded onto his smart phone. Don't worry, the phone is only for games, no phone calls or internet - it's one of our old ones. Lily got a DVD we bought on special, couldn't believe it when the price check showed only AU$5, and she also got a little toy puppy - a Christmas present we'd hidden away way too far in the cupboard!! The presents were scattered around the lounge room for the kids to find. The Easter bunny was very kind this year...☺

A little chocolate is a must though - healthier ones bought at the health food store, 

hidden away in their colourful Easter eggs.

 Lily ate all her chocolates, one by one... 

while Jonah had a couple and saving the others for later.

Good Friday 2014

 ... or Långfredag as we call it in Swedish - 'Long Friday'... 

 It's way past midnight here in Australia, past 1am even!! Holy moly ☺

Kiddies are sound asleep and hubby's on his way home from work.

I stayed up late and decorated the house for Easter while watching an Australian movie called 'Sisters of War', based on a true story of two Australian women, an army nurse and a catholic nun who survived as prisoners of war in Papua New Guinea during World War II. Such an amazing story!

Tomorrow 

Today, we are invited to an Easter feast at my in-laws house,

but I'd better get some sleep first...
