We went on a family adventure last Monday. Parked the car at Portside Wharf, where hubby works and took the City Cat into South Bank in Brisbane. The trip with the ferry took 40 minutes and the kids loved it! It was a grey day - not too hot, well actually it was a bit chilly. We saw a few raindrops in the air too! Perfect day to travel and explore.
We arrived at the Queensland Museum and were about to go and purchase tickets to the Dinosaur Exhibition 'Explore-A-Saurus' when a man with a family approached me and asked if we were going to the Science Centre... He gave us his tickets, two adults and one child (worth $36!) - there are definitely still some nice people out there! So instead of visiting the dinosaur exhibition, we spent a couple of hours at the Science Centre - for free!

Not sure what to do...
Feeling torn. A new year. New ideas.
Time for something different... ☺
Maybe the Santas have to go soon
- it's awfully hot this time of the year.
I'm going to miss them, along with all the reds.
What am I saying, no way I'm removing the red yet!!
Maybe just the Santas and some of the obvious Christmas decor.
Not too much... I still want to enjoy the warm atmosphere
mixed in with the Summer heat lol
Have a lovely day everyone!

Three Santas
...are guarding the colourful tin with Swedish gingerbread cookies.
I didn't make my own for Christmas 2012,
I bought my favourite Swedish gingerbread cookies instead
- we've all enjoyed each and every one of them☺

Baked with love
During Christmas time I bake some Swedish goodies for all to enjoy.
I store them in red Christmas tins.
They are surely baked with lots of love♥

After the holidays there aren't many goodies left,
but I still enjoy looking at my tins.

Through my Christmas window...
I wish I could see real bullfinches flying around.
Love the red chest.
I think they are the prettiest birds in Sweden during winter.

Hanging in there...
My Swedish Santas are still present.
Today is the official day in Sweden to take Christmas decorations down.
- 20 days after Christmas, on the 13th of January.
My decorations are to be enjoyed for a longer period of time!
If you love Christmas as much as I do,
please come back soon☺

I'm back!
After a few days of holidays, I'm back blogging again. I didn't plan to be absent for this long... - a whole week lol. It was just difficult to get back into it. We've had a few days off as a family and made day trips around Queensland. There wasn't enough time to sit and create blog entries... ☺
One of our trips was to Underwater World in Mooloolaba, on the Sunshine Coast. It was a lovely day with all sea creatures imaginable! We saw sharks swimming on top of us... Beautiful blue starfish along with turtles and seals. The weather was hot and humid, so exploring indoors was nice and cool.

Love the patina.
So much history around the railway museum.

Colourful bunting

A flower for me?

Vintage signs

Jonah is checking out the trains...
Next on our 'to-do-list' is Brisbane Museum
and the 'Explore-a-saurus-Exhibition'.
Will probably be a hit with the kids too.

I'm hanging on to my Christmas decor...
It's a rainy morning here in South-East Queensland. The screen door is open, letting a slight breeze in. Not much is happening today. The kids are playing a board game with their dad while watching cartoons. Sounds like a normal Saturday to most people, but for us it's quite rare as hubby works very odd hours.
Soon we'll have a few days together as a family. It's finally time for our little holiday. We have planned to visit to some markets, spend a few hours at the Ipswich Railway Museum with 'A day out with Thomas The Tank Engine', and also drive to the Underwater World on the Sunshine Coast. It's all going to be a thrill for the kids. Before we know it, the holidays are over and it's time to go back to school.
Have a beautiful weekend everyone!

Still Christmas around here...
Everywhere you look, there are still signs of Christmas.
Swedish bread basket
on top of some Swedish Christmas books
Swedish Christmas toffees next to a sea of candles.
A dear friend of mine suggested I keep Christmas going for at least half a year lol
She also said it felt like visiting Santa's house, when she was sitting at my kitchen table seeing all the Christmas decor all throughout the house - such a compliment!

First day of January 2013...
was yesterday, but I didn't feel like spending time in front of the computer. Today I'm showing you yesterday's amazing sky. All these incredible colours... from yellow, orange, red, pink and a hint of purple. Nature at its best!
True beauty of Mother Nature!
Hope y'all have had a great start of the new year☺
